Campfire Songs

Here some of our favourite campfire songs! Perfect for singing around the campfire or send them to your neighbours and have a neighbourhood choir with everyone singing in their backyards.

I Like Bananas

This is to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, sort of. (“My eyes have seen the glory …”)

I like bananas, coconuts, and grapes!
I like bananas, coconuts, and grapes!
I like bananas, coconuts and grapes!
That’s why they call me (yelling) Tarzan of the Apes!

Repeat many, many times.

On Top of Spaghetti

On top of spaghetti, all covered with cheese,
I lost my poor meatball, when somebody sneezed.
It rolled off the table, and on to the floor,
And then my poor meatball, rolled out of the door.
It rolled in the garden, and under a bush,
And then my poor meatball, was nothing but mush.
The mush was as tasty, as tasty could be,
And then the next summer, it grew into a tree.
The tree was all covered, all covered with moss,
And on it grew meatballs, and tomato sauce.
So if you eat spaghetti, all covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatball, whenever you sneeze.

Boa Constrictor

To the tune of “John Brown’s Baby”, sort of.

I’m being eaten by a boa constrictor,
A boa constrictor, a boa constrictor
I’m being eaten by a boa constrictor
And I don’t like it one bit
Oh no he’s up to my toe
Oh gee he’s up to my knee
Oh my he’s up to my thigh
Oh darn he’s up to my arm
Oh heck he’s up to my neck
Oh gee he’s eaten me!!

John Jacob

John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt
His name is my name, too!
Whenever I go out
The people always shout
John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na

The Ants Go Marching

The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching one by one,
The little one stopped to play his drum (you can also sing “nibble a crumb”)
And they all go marching
Down
To the ground
To get out of the rain
Boom, boom, boom
The ants go marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching two by two,
The little one stopped to tie his shoe (you can also sing “scare Balloo”)
And they all go marching
Down
To the ground
To get out of the rain
Boom, boom, boom
Continue repeating the verse replacing the words “one by one” with “three by three” and “four by four” etc until you get to ten.
Replace “the little one stopped to play his drum and tie his shoe” with words that rhyme with “three by three” and “four by four” etc until you get to ten.
